Pennsylvania Commercial Electric Rates Increases by 18% – 34%
Commercial customers of FirstEnergy Pennsylvania can expect to pay more for power towards the end of the year. This is an offshoot of the new tariffed commercial PTC-Default rates that the utility company filed with the Public Utility Commission. The increased energy prices cover a three-month period starting on December 1, 2021.
The PTC-Default rates are the all-in default service rates excluding the State Tax Adjustment Surcharge (essentially, the PTC before the application of the STAS), which currently stands at 0%. The new tariffed rates are still awaiting approval from the PUCs, and the utilities have not yet posted new official PTCs.
For Met-Ed, the current tariffed commercial PTC-Default rate of $0.06914 per kWh will rise to $0.08707 per kWh starting December 1, 2021. That’s a 26% hike over the prevailing price.
For Penelec, the current tariffed commercial PTC-Default rate of $0.06585 per kWh will go up by 31%, to $0.08636 per kWh. The new rate will take effect on December 1, 2021.
For Penn Power, the current tariffed commercial PTC-Default rate of $0.08495 per kWh will increase by 18% to $0.10065 per kWh. The new rate will be in effect starting December 1, 2021.
For West Penn Power, the current tariffed commercial PTC-Default rate of $0.05660 per kWh will increase to $0.07609 per kWh effective December 1. That’s a 34% hike over the prevailing price.
These new PTC-Default rates for the FirstEnergy Pennsylvania electricity distribution companies will take effect starting December 1, 2021, and last until February 28, 2022.
