CL&P Residential Service Rate Increases by 64%

Residential and small business customers of Connecticut Light & Power will experience a spike in their electricity bills starting January 2022. This comes from the increase in CL&P’s Standard Service rates and Last Resort Service rates. The new Standard Service rates will be in effect from January 2022 through June 2022. Meanwhile, the Last Resort Service rates will apply starting on January 2022 up to March 2022.  

From January 2022 to June 2022, the CL&P (Eversource) residential (Rate 1) supply rate will be at 11.484 cents per kWh. This is an increase of 64% over the current rate of 7.003 cents per kWh.

The said rates and the rates below are inclusive of the bypassable Federally Mandated Congestion Charge amounting to -0.090 cents per kWh. 

From January 2022 through June 2022, CL&P small C&I Standard Service rates will be at 10.627 cents per kWh. That’s a 54% hike over the current 6.918 cents per kWh rate.
