BGE Customers To Pay 12% More For Electricity

Households in Maryland will find themselves likely paying higher electricity rates as Baltimore Gas & Electric, the 200-year-old electricity and gas distribution network with 1.6M customers filed new residential rates for the three-month period starting October 1, 2021.

For Schedule R residential customers, this means a 12% increase, from the current rate of 6.166¢ per kWh to a new rate of 6.915 ¢ per kWh, starting June 1, 2021.

For Schedules G/GU Type I SOS customers, this means a 5% increase, from the current rate of 6.097 ¢ per kWh to a new rate of 6.398¢ per kWh, starting June 1, 2021.

The changes will come into effect in the billing period starting on October 1, 2021, and will be reflected in customer bills under the delivery charges.
