Maine Residential, & Small C&I Electric Rates Increase by 88%

Residential and business customers of Versant Power, Bangor Hydro District (BHE), as well as large business customers in Versant’s Maine Public District (MPS), will pay more for electricity this coming year. The increase will reflect the new Standard Offer electricity supply rates posted by the Maine Public Utilities Commission.  

For BHE, the current residential and small commercial Standard Offer rate of $0.061960 per kWh rises by 88%, to $0.116840 per kWh from January 1, 2022, through December 31, 2022.  

Provider Plan Term Rate  

The new BHE residential Standard Offer rate equals an additional $30 per month on the utility bill for customers who use 550 kWh per month.  

According to the PUC, BHE’s medium-class businesses on the Standard Offer will experience a 77.7% hike on average in the supply component of their bill.
