Find the Lowest Eversource Connecticut Electricity Supplier

Eversource Energy, the largest electricity supplier in Connecticut, recently announced that they will be raising their supply charges for their residential customers in Connecticut. Customers will see their supply price jump from $0.08014 per KWh to $0.09078 on January 1, 2018. The rate increase represents a 13.27% rise that will be seen on Eversoure electric bills as early as February of next year.

Competitive electricity suppliers in Connecticut are offering an alternative to the higher Eversource price. As an energy choice state, Connecticut citizens have the ability to shop the market and choose who supplies their home with electricity. The increase will effect customers who do not or have not selected a Connecticut competitive electricity supplier.

In addition to savings, securing a fixed rate can provide customers with price stability over the Eversource default rate which has proven to be volatile since Connecticut deregulated their electricity market. The default generation supply rate has jumped between 12.13 and 7.57 cents since the beginning of 2007. Eversource changes the default rate in Connecticut twice a year, at the beginning of January and July of each year.

Eversource Energy, who used to go by the name Connecticut Light & Power (CL&P) in Connecticut, delivers power to over 1.2 million residential customers. Though customers have the option to choose a competitive supplier, Eversource Energy remains the regulated power delivery company for their territory.
